Pest Control Mobile Working Event

Thank you to all those who attended our event in York on Friday 29 January 2010.

YoHr Regs was delighted to have been able to organise and host another free event for local authority delegates, specifically themed on mobile working in the pest control area of regulatory services.

Our event agenda specifically focused on the challenges and solutions around implementing mobile working for pest control and featured local authority case study speakers.  The following presentations are now available;

Steve Park, Manchester City Council – an overview of the MCC mobile strategy

Paul Cronnie, Newcastle City Council – a specific pest control solution using a PDA

Paul Mears & Aimee Lane, East Riding of Yorkshire – a specific pest control solution using SMS text messaging

During the afternoon workshop, delegates took part in group discussions to bring out ideas and issues from the case study presentations and think about how local authorities might be able to move forward and work together to implement future solutions.

The collated notes from the Collaboration Workshop are now available.  From the feedback we received, the majority of you found this to be a positive and interesting session to discuss how we might go forward and many expressed how beneficial it was to network and understand that others are experiencing similar issues.  YoHr Regs intends to use these notes to devise a potential route to helping local authorities in the Yorkshire & Humber region collaborate to implement mobile working in pest control (and wider Regulatory Services).

We would also like to thank you for your completed feedback forms, the results of which we will use to ensure that further YoHr Regs events suit your needs in the future.  We very much enjoyed the day and here’s what one particular delegate had to say:

‘All of the presentations were very good and thought provoking.  Clear that the agenda of mobile working is moving forward at a pace and is driven by the need for efficiencies, reduction in office/depot based personnel and improved customer service.  However it appears that not all authorities understand what the agenda is about and/or have the resources (financially / personnel) to take this forward.  Would have liked longer to ‘network’ with event sponsors and colleagues from other authorities.  This is the most informative session I have attended relating to mobile working.  Well done YoHr’.

(Paul Christer, Gateshead Council)

 Many thanks to the event sponsors who supported the free event and who added real value through hands-on demonstrations and discussions.    sd
